About the artist: Monty Maldovan

Monty Maldovan’s love for began when he saw Dumbo with his sister at age 10. He found his way to Walt Animation Studios, where he worked on films like Mulan and The Princess and the Frog. He learned about storytelling with character imagery and the importance of color, skills he brought to life with 3-D products when he began working with theme park merchandise as a character artist. Today, he is now the senior manager of product design. Kermit the Frog, one of Monty’s favorite characters, promotes the values of calmness, level-headedness, and kindness. His choice of Kermit was inspired by these traits and the iconic song “Rainbow Connection.” To Monty, Kermit strumming his banjo perfectly captures the song’s spirit and the importance of dreaming and stargazing.
